Adjusting to Life in the USA,Australia or Canada

After traveling across the globe and arriving in the US, Australia or Canada, it is natural to have feelings of shock. This is commonly known as Culture Shock. Culture Shock is common in most overseas travelers and can last anywhere from one day to three weeks for participants.

When you land in the US, Australia or Canada, you should follow your arrival instruction sheet that you received 2-3 weeks before arrival via email. If you have not received this email prior to home country departure, please contact our office! You should not travel to the USA, Australia or Canada if you do not know what to do and where to go upon arrival! Be sure that you collect all of your baggage and file any missing baggage claimsbefore you leave the airport.

Please try to call home, eat a good meal and get a good night’s sleep as soon as possible! And don’t worry – after the initial adjustment period, it’s hard not to have a good time in America, Australia or Canada. Our staff is available 24-7 for any major issues or emergencies. Please do not hesitate to contact us at any time.

Always remember that the United States, Australia or Canada are melting pots of different nationalities from around the world. Please be patient as your adjustment will take time. A good way to begin your program is to visit a tourist attraction in the city where you are working and living. A national park, amusement park, national landmark, city center or museum is a great way to quickly learn about your area and experience the same feelings as other tourists that are visiting the USA, Australia or Canada.

The WOSAB Programs requires a deposit at the point of Registration This is for many reasons: there is limited space and we have to ensure that applicants are eligible to participate.
